Tiger Devours Open Field Without Driver!

July 24, 2006 (Dublin, Ohio)With the precision of Beverly Hills plastic surgeon, Tiger Woods created a masterpiece on the Royal Liverpool golf course Sunday and laid waste to the rest of the field.

While Chris DiMarco played remarkably to finish second just two strokes off the paste, the result was never in doubt as Woods hit consistent shot after shot for eighteen holes.

Time and time again when I have the opportunity to play a round of gold, it amazes me how many weekend golfers still reach for a driver which they have no control over and then wonder why they shoot over 100. It was an emotional day for Woods as he was coming off a sub-par US Open and wanted to bounce back in a big way.

As mentioned in the linked article, his dad was sitting on his shoulder for every shot and Woods followed his father's advice to the tee. Manage your emotions and focus on staying in the moment and everything else will take care of itself!

As we predicted last week, Phil Mickleson will need a lot more time to exorcise the demons from his meltdown at the US Open as he finished far off the pace.

Incidentally while Tiger was shedding many a tear for his fallen father, runner-up DiMarco was doing some serious grieving on his own. Norma DiMarco died suddenly on the Fourth of July during a family vacation, leaving behind her husband of 46 years and the bulldog of a son she helped mold into one of the world's best golfers.

Throughout the week, Chris felt as if he was being helped along by divine intervention. He was stunned when he got to the tee box Saturday and found out that the woman keeping score from his group was named Norma. He couldn't help but wonder what forces were at work as he played better than he has in months.

As we predicted early last week Carlos Baldomir blew out the candles on Arturo Gatti's boxing career with a one sided victory in New Jersey. Lets hope the gutsy fighter hangs it up and for Carlos thank you for the nice payoff!
