New Year's Fitness Resolutions - Why Do You Set Them? Part 3

For Post Partum Blues

The average person gains about five to seven pounds between Thanksgiving and New Years. And most keep the weight on like interest payments on the credit card by never paying them off.

However, many times what comes after the holidays with the let down of all the excitement is post partum blues. So what do you do? You figure the best way to get out of your funk is to start over, set a New Years Resolutions by giving yourself something to strive for. These are all good intentions!

Unfortunately, twelve months later it seems like dejavu all over again. Same feelings, same mindset, with the same old problems. How long did the Resolutions last this year? Two months, four, wow you made it through to the summer. Only to go back to the same old habits. Back to the same old problems.

It really does not matter what the reason is for you to set a New Years Resolution, what matters more is determining why you continually fall off the wagon a few weeks, months down the road. For some unknown reason each year you have great intentions, yet your motivation goes away and you go back to the old ways of doing things. Until today!

New Years Fitness Resolutions are never good substitutes for down times. Dont get me wrong, goal setting can be very inspiring. The key is in making them last. Just because you may be sad because the excitement is over, doesnt mean a resolution is a good cure all.

Try to determine the right motives for setting goals.
