Ok. So youre a dad to be. If youre like most men, this can be a scary situation. We go through so many emotions and sometimes we dont know what to think or how to react. Some men get very enthusiastic but then still go through the emotional roller coaster.

Take heart, your not alone. Youre experiencing what man before you has experienced for thousands of years. Youd think that by now a job description would have been past down through the ages and to some degree it has through being raised by your parents.

The first thing that you should know is that your wife or girlfriend is going to go through hormonal changes. There is nothing that you can do about that except to be there for her and be supportive. She is after all going to go through the most amazing, difficult but wonderful experience of her life. For most women, this is when they realize that they truly become a woman. In some cultures you are considered a virgin until youve had a baby.

Mother nature is going to kick in full force and her instincts to nurture and care for this growing baby inside her will be on the forefront of her mind. You may feel somewhat neglected at this time but guys; realize that its not that she loves you less. You have to understand that this is a new experience for her also and suddenly she is faced with the sheer terror of giving child-birth and there is no going back. Whether she wants to experience it or not is no longer an option. She is going to experience the pain of child-birth. Be kind and gentle with her.

Some women experience morning sickness in the early stages of pregnancy. I think that may have something to do with how healthy she was before becoming pregnant. Good diet before becoming pregnant is important for her health and the babies. She may also have food cravings. This is nature's way of providing the nutrients she may be missing from her usual diet.

Having a baby completely changes your life. You will no longer have the same life you had before. You not only the responsibility of your life and your spouse but you now have the responsibility of a small helpless child that is your own. This child is an extension of you and will carry on the future family.

The rewards of having children is great. Not only will they learn from you but you may be pleasantly surprised at how they teach you as well.

In summary, during the pregnancy, if you are supportive of you spouse/girlfriend, you will find that her health and that of the baby will be much greater and the caring you show for her will be returned to you. It is a time to be enjoyed and all the planning for the coming birth can be exciting and a rewarding experience.
