Cellulitis - How To Protect Yourself From Bacterial Skin Infections

Cellulitis is a bacterial skin infection. It generally affects only one limb. But if not treated in time, it can cause serious problems such as sepsis, gangrene etc. Find out more about cellulitis and how to protect yourself from cellulitis. Read on.

Cellulitis- symptoms

Cellulitis affects the skin. When bacteria spread it makes the skin red. The skin develops swelling and pain. It also develops blisters and feels warm to touch.

Cellulitis- causes

Bacteria cause cellulitis. Whenever the skin develops a breach, the bacteria may enter and affect. Those who have weak immunity suffer more. Diabetics may get cellulitis quite frequently. Other immune suppressed people such as AIDS patients may also get cellulitis quickly. If you have conditions such as eczema, blisters, injuries, ringworms, or any other condition that allows the bacteria a way into your skin, you can get cellulitis.

Cellulititis- treatment

Cellulitis is commonly treated with antibiotics. You may be treated with topical or oral antibiotics to clear the cellulitis. If the disease spreads, you may need intravenous injections of antibiotics in a hospital to cure cellulits.
