How Can I Get Started Making Money from Home?

Can your average person actually make a living working from the comfort of his or her home? The answer is yes, and it doesn't have to be all that difficult. In this articles I'll touch briefly on some of the ways this can be done. Please stay tuned to www.workfromhomespot.com for articles that will go into further detail.

The easiest way to start working from home is to take your current job home. This obviously won't work for everyone, but for many it will. Even if your company doesn't have a telecommuting program in place, it probably wouldn't hurt to ask if you might work from home one day a week to begin with.

The next option is to become an independent contractor. There are many web sites dedicated to helping independent contractors find work, and helping companies find contractors. See Guru.com for a good example of this kind of site.

One thing you may have noticed in your research into working from home is that many of the work at home jobs out there require a very specialized set of skills. If your speciality is not computer programming, web design, or copy writing, you may find your options to be very limited.

So the question arises: if I'm not a computer geek, can I still have a home-based business? The answer again is yes! There are many options for the average person looking to get started working from home. Some will take some time to get running, others can start making you money right away.

The easiest way to get started is with pay per click (PPC) advertising, and affiliate marketing. Don't worry, it's not as scary as it sounds. What are these things?

Pay per click advertising refers to selling ads that you pay for only when someone clicks on them. Google AdWords is probably the biggest PPC program around. These are the text ads you see on Google when you perform a search. Each time you click on an ad, the advertiser pays for the click. The cost can be anywhere from $0.05 to $2 or more, depending on the keywords used for the ad.

Affiliate marketing refers to selling a product using "affiliates" to do the marketing for you. Basically a company will pay a percentage of sales to anyone who refers a customer to them. The biggest affiliate marketing web site out there is Clickbank.com. They have thousands of products that are sold through affiliates. Anyone can sign up in minutes to be a Clickbank affiliate, and start making money. All you have to do is figure out how to refer people.

You may see where this is going already, but pay per click advertising is the easiest way to start referring people to affiliate sites. You don't even need a web site to get started. All you need is a Google AdWords account. It takes only a few minutes to get signed up for an AdWords account. Simply go to the AdWords site at http://google.com/adwords, and click the button to sign up.

Once you have an adwords account, you need to pick some keywords, write your ad text, and start referring people to Clickbank to collect your affiliate commissions. Stay tuned to www.workfromhomespot.com for my next article, which will go into further details of choosing products to market, selecting keywords, and writing effective ads.
